My Experience of Jaipur Tour with Family

Traveling with family is always special, and our recent trip to Jaipur was nothing short of magical. Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is a beautiful blend of history, culture, and vibrant markets. Our first stop was the iconic Hawa Mahal, or the “Palace of Winds.” Its unique honeycomb design with 953 small windows (jharokhas) was built so royal ladies could watch street festivals without being seen. My kids were fascinated by its pink sandstone beauty, perfect for photos!

Next, we visited the City Palace, a stunning complex that blends Rajput and Mughal architecture. The palace museum displays royal costumes, weapons, and antique cars. The kids loved the giant silver urns (said to be the world’s largest) used to carry Ganga water for the king’s travels!

Afternoon: Jantar Mantar & Lunch at Laxmi Misthan Bhandar (LMB)

A short walk from City Palace is Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory. The giant sundials and instruments looked like something from a sci-fi movie! Our guide explained how these were used to predict eclipses and time—mind-blowing for all of us.

For lunch, we headed to LMB, a famous vegetarian restaurant in Johari Bazaar. Their dal baati churma and pyaaz kachori were delicious! The sweet ghewar was the perfect dessert.

Evening: Shopping at Johari Bazaar & Relaxing at the Hotel

No trip to Jaipur is complete without shopping! Johari Bazaar is a paradise for jewelry lovers, while Bapu Bazaar offers colorful textiles, handicrafts, and souvenirs. We bought some beautiful blue pottery and Bandhani scarves.

After a long day, we relaxed at our hotel, enjoying Rajasthani folk music and dance performances is a great way to end Day 1.

Day 2: Forts and Local Experiences

Morning: Amber Fort & Elephant Ride

We started early for Amber Fort, about 11 km from the city. The fort’s grandeur left us speechless, mirror work, frescoes, and sprawling courtyards. We took an elephant ride up the hill (though you can also opt for a jeep). The view of Maota Lake from the fort was breathtaking!

Pro Tip: Visit early to avoid crowds and heat.

Afternoon: Nahargarh Fort & Jal Mahal View

Next, we drove to Nahargarh Fort, perched on the Aravalli hills. The view of Jaipur from here is spectacular! There’s also a cool café, Padao, where we sipped chai while enjoying the sunset.

On the way back, we stopped at Jal Mahal, the floating palace in Man Sagar Lake. You can’t go inside, but the view from the road is worth a quick photo stop.

Evening: Chokhi Dhani, A Cultural Extravaganza

The highlight of our trip was Chokhi Dhani, a Rajasthani-themed village resort. From puppet shows and camel rides to traditional thali meals served on leaf plates, it was a full cultural immersion. The kids enjoyed folk dances and magic shows—totally worth the visit!

Day 3: Modern Jaipur & Relaxation

Morning: Albert Hall Museum & Birla Mandir

We began our last day at Albert Hall Museum, the oldest museum in Rajasthan. The Egyptian mummy and intricate miniature paintings were fascinating.

Next, we visited Birla Mandir, a serene white marble temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. The peaceful atmosphere was a nice break from the city buzz.

Afternoon: Sisodia Rani Garden & Galtaji Temple

For some greenery, we visited Sisodia Rani Garden, a beautiful landscaped garden with fountains and murals depicting Radha-Krishna stories.

Then, we headed to Galtaji Temple, also known as the Monkey Temple. Hundreds of monkeys roam freely here, so we kept our snacks hidden! The natural springs and temples carved into the hills made it a unique experience.

Evening: Farewell Dinner

Our last dinner was a royal-themed restaurant inside Amber Fort. Dining under chandeliers with a view of the lit-up fort was the perfect ending to our trip.
